Comments about NRS Men's Freefall Dry Pants:

Used this for the first time yesterday, out of the box on to a cold river in Pa! I got a large and the fit was fine. I wear a 34 waist and 30 inseam, size 8 shoe. The best part was when getting out of the boat and stepped in the water, no cold water in rubber booties! Materials seem like they will last. I wore Teva's but will probably find a pair of cheap sneakers to wear over the booties. They seem like the only weak link in the system.

Comments about NRS Men's Freefall Dry Pants:

The product has thus far lived up to its billing. Am pleased with the apparent quality and fit, although I do suggest getting a larger than normal size. I am typically a large but am glad that I ordered an extra large. Only potential issue is the stocking feet and how well they will hold up in use. I have not yet used the product for its intended purpose, that being winter kayak fishing, so am unable to report completely as I have only gone thru a dress rehearsal.

      Best Uses

Comments about NRS Men's Freefall Dry Pants:

Not for whitewater paddlers with leg muscles.
My Leg measurements 30 inch inseam, thigh 27 inch relaxed, calf 17 inch relaxed, waist 34 inch. I purchased a size Large to compliment my Flux drytop. I expected these Large freefall drypants to be too long in the leg which they are, I also expected the fabric socks to be too big and bunch up around my toes in my paddling shoe and the heel of the sock to hang outside the back of my shoe which they do. I did not expect them to be so tight in the thigh area, no chance of thick layering. I did not expect them to have no give in the crotch, impossible to lift legs up enough to climb rocks or step over logs even with knee and crotch areas duct taped in place to hold pants in position for short legs. I can use these pants paddling a K1 flatwater with my knees together but not much else. I will donate to a poor malnourished kayaker.

            • NRS Men's Freefall Dry Pants

              Q:

Hi Clyde. As a follow up to my earlier question, does the inner tunnel on the pants and inner tunnel on the dry top get rolled together or something similar prior to sealing the outer waist band? Or is it best to keep the tunnels fully extended and flat to each other? Pants tunnel as base, then dry top tunnel then pants waist band, then skirt, then dry top band waist band.

Thanks again for the great service and answering these newb questions.

                A:

Thanks, Bryan, for your follow-up question. The "tunnel" in the pants is only 3" wide, so you'll just tuck the dry top tunnel in it before tightening the waist band. You want to leave enough of the dry top tunnel out so that body motion doesn't pull it out of the band. Your sprayskirt tunnel will fit up under the dry top's outer tunnel and the dry top's adjustable waistband will cinch over it. This creates good watertight barriers for keeping water out of both the boat and your garments.

Hi. Can you please explain the best mating/rolling process between these pants and a dry top with an inside tunnel? Thanks.

Bryan, the hook-and-loop adjustable waist band is open at the top. You tuck the inner tunnel inside the waist band, then cinch the side adjustments tight to make an efficient seal.

I have an NRS 'Level 6' dry top. If wearing these Freefall dry pants with the dry top, will I get water in through the waist if I'm fully in the water for 3-5 minutes after a wet exit?

The socks in those sizes are designed to fit up to a size 13 shoe. However they're cut roomy for adding insulating socks inside. Give the pants a try; returns/exchanges are easy and free if needed.
