I have seen it used.
I make my own bags with industrial sewing machines.
This is a superior product and I will be using similar materials and sizing.
The larger bag will accommodate a fire blanket folded around a Cambridge Fire Pan. Protects the firepan some and more importantly this could protect other items in your boat from the heavy metal firepan banging around.
In one of the folds of the fabric a Sandbar Flatfire Charcoal Chimney can also be tucked away. Also available from NRS.
With a fire blanket folded over and everything inside this case one may be able to skip buying the firepan cover.
The heavy YKK Zippers with two sliders are a plus.

This bag is ridiculously oversized for the Cambridge Welding firepan that NRS sells and that this bag is designed for.

The bag dimensions listed indicate that this bag is 28" wide. The bag we received is at least 30" wide. The firepan, with handles, is just under 27" wide.

The bag is also much too tall for the firepan.

I really have no clue how NRS did such a poor job working out the dimensions for this bag, when they only sell one firepan that the bag is designed for.

I'd give the bag less stars, but it's cheap. So, if you're into saving $$, maybe it's for you. We'd rather get it right the first time and have a bag buolt for life, so this bag's going back and we ordered a wrap stlye bag from a competitor in Flagstaff.

I have the standard size firepan and this cover was 6" to long and 3" too wide. Had to return it. Too bad that there is not one that actually fits.

            Gus,
            The bag measures 28" L X 16" W X 4" thick. See the following webpage:
            http://www.nrs.com/product/27351/nrs-firepan-carry-bag
Based on this information, it seems the Cambridge fire pan is too long and too wide.
But!...the following webpage describes dimensions that would fit into NRS bag, which are: 24"x15"x3"
            See the following webpage:
            http://www.tuffriverstuff.com/cambridge-fire-pan/
This page does not describe how the firepan cover for the Cambridge changes its size.

I measured it last night and it looks like it will just fit nicely. I have the standard NRS fire pan and it fits very loosely in it which I wasn't expecting. I would have preferred a much more fitted bag as I think you will get with your size fire pan and this bag.
            Hope this helps

          Q:

Is this NRS Firepan Carry Bag padded and what is the actual material, vinyl or nylon or __ ? Thanks.
P.S. Might NRS offer a similar bag but a bit smaller. Thinking for using for a Primus 300 samp stove that is 23"W x 13.5" x 5"H. But as another reviewer mentioned this would be a bit large.

Not padded. Made of a vinyl, similar to that of a dry bag.

No it is not padded , but it is pretty rugged- it has been bouncing around in the back of my pickup for a while, and it does not seem to have any ill effects. I think it is Vinyl. The Firepan is pretty heavy , and the bag has held up well. I've had it a little over a year now, and I'm not gentle with things.

The Firepan Bag is made of a PVC-coated polyester material. It isn't padded. Take a look at one of the drybags for your stove. I think it will fit in the Large Tuff Sack, Item # .55023.01.

No the bag is not padded. It is a very heavy vinyl. It fits their
fire pan well with enough extra space to be able to add the fire
            blanket.

I used it last summer and it was a bit too large for the typical fire pan that NRS sells. It would be nice if it was a little smaller. When you lift it up you feel the fire pan moving all around inside and it's awkward. They could definitely improve the design.
Not sure the exact dimensions but I'm thinking it may be too large for your stove.
I'm not sure on the material, fairly durable, but wears for sure. Spent 10 days on the river with it and one of the days the bag was rubbing up against something and almost got a hole in it.
            Hope this helps.
