So you want a lightweight and handy fixed blade that can be carried in any position? Consider the Renner Neckolas from CRKT. A lightweight, serrated knife that deploys with one hand!
  • Blunt safety tip and Triple-Point serrations that swiftly slice through rope and webbing.
  • An index finger hole gives unparalleled grip and control.
  • The full-tang stainless steel blade is sandwiched between Micarta™ scales; the skeletonized construction makes it super lightweight.
  • The Micarta sheath is amazing; it locks the blade securely, yet releases it cleanly when the top "lever" is depressed.
  • Reversible stainless clip attaches to lash tab and lets right and left handers operate it smoothly. When removing the clip and reinstalling it on the other side of the sheath, we recommend applying Loctite® or other threadlocker to the screws to prevent loosening.
  • Length: 5.38", 2" blade, Weight: 1.2 oz.

Comments about CRKT Renner Neckolas Knife:

LOVE this knife. It seems i used to make an annual if not semi-annual knife sacrifice to the ol' riv. The sheath is really low-profile and i like the ring feature for extra security in the event i'm bumbling around in an escalated situation. It's all held up to the scores of times i've hauled myself back into my boat and smash/dragged the knife between my body mass and raft/frame components.

However, I noticed when i was purchasing one for a friend that some sheaths aren't as reliable in the retention department. I'd recommend buying one from a store front so you can make sure you get a good one.

Great knife, had one before and bought another as a replacement. Had to take a Dremel to the notch on the blade so it would stay locked in the sheath. Otherwise a good knife

Comments about CRKT Renner Neckolas Knife:

Bought one 3-4 years ago and had it on my Green Jacket PFD, no problems. Memorial Day weekend on the Kennebec at 13K+, knife blew out and sheath clip bent. OK a very hard hit, I can accept that. Ordered a new on, got it today, blade pulls out with an easy tug w/o having to press the lock. Grrove in the blade is ground too shallow to catch the pin in the sheath, same on the sheath from my previous knife. I'll touch it with a Dremnel and make it fit. But I can't trust it. Going back to my NRS Wingman, a great blade.CRKT designs good stuff, but it's now MADE IN CHINA!!! A definat lack of oversight and quality control. It's now my new pocket knife, I can't trust it on class 4+ water.

Comments about CRKT Renner Neckolas Knife:

I've had this knife for years. I got it after my Bearclaw popped out of its sheath and ended up on the bottom of the river. I can pull on this knife with everthing I've got; if you don't hit the release tab, it is *not* coming out of its sheath. I read the other reviews, and those sheaths were either faulty or the users were not fully sheathing the blade. Believe me, after I lost my Bearclaw (loved that knife), I was *not* getting another knife that could come loose easily. Outstanding minimalist design. Like I said, I've had it for years, and I'm only writing the review because the other reviews did not do this knife justice.

Comments about CRKT Renner Neckolas Knife:

I recently bought this to clip on my pfd for sea kayaking. The first time I did a cowboy self rescue, the knife released while I was in the process of scrambling and sliding onto my stern from the water. I found it under my deck line later when I landed on the beach, amazed that I hadn't lost it, or cut something with it.

I like the small size and the extra grip the finger hole provides. But the knife needs some kind of locking mechanism - a block that prevents the pinching release action. I'm going to try to add a piece of cork or plastic there.
