Comments about NRS Rodeo Split Stern Flotation:

This is a good stern float. When swimming it keeps the stern from filling up with water. It seems like a quality stern float and does it's job. I have only used it for about a month, time will tell how it will hold up. NRS always stands behind their products and have a lifetime warranty on this, main reason I got it. If it is lifetime warranty it must be heavy duty and can handle some abuse.

Which float bag will be best for the stern of a Liquid Logic Braaap? Standard or rodeo?

                    A:

Jeff, the best way to find out is get some rough measurements of the space and compare against the size of the float bags. Rodeo split stern will generally fit a smaller space.

Patty, we list the fully inflated dimensions of each of the float bags. If we don't have the exact size you're looking for, go with one bigger; it'll just inflate enough to fill the space.

I need a flotation device for the bow of a 14' Seda Vagabond. The distance from nose to foot pegs is 48", at which point it is about 19" wide and and 12" high. What do you recommend?

To fully fill that space the Large Standard Float Bag, Item # 50081.01, will work. I'm a little concerned that at 47" long it might rub on the foot pegs. The Medium will also fill the area, just not as long. Having a bag larger than some of the dimensions is fine; it will not fully inflate but will fully fill the space.

Moose, on each of our flotation bags we give the fully inflated dimensions. Measure the area you want to fill (you can do it from the outside, just compensate for the hull thickness) and pick bags that size or larger. A larger bag will just inflate to fully fill the space.

Measure from the inside point of the stern to the approximate spot where you want the bags to end. Keep in mind that if you will store dry bag etc the measurement point may change

Ed, the materials and adhesives in bike tire patch kits are rubber based. The material in the Rodeo Float is urethane. If you just have a small pinhole you could use Aquaseal, Item # 35001.01. For a larger tear you'll need a piece of urethane or PVC material and either Clifton Urethane Adhesive, Item # 38700.01, or Aquaseal.

On the product page for each model of float bags we give the fully inflated dimensions of the bags. Measure the space you want filled and select the type and size of bag that will fill that space. A bag larger than the space is fine; it will inflate to fully fill the space.

The 28² bags are for playboats. Even if the 37² are a little long, you can
fold the tail over before sliding into the stern, but they should fit
                    nicely.

Darren, online each of our float bags lists the maximum inflated dimensions. Measure the space you have to fill, then select the closest fit that is that size or larger. The goal is to fill the space with the maximum amount of bag, to minimize water collection.

Dave, all the float bag product pages give the inflated dimensions of the bags. Pick a size slightly larger than your space. Then, when inflated in the boat they will displace the maximum amount of water.

These will fill up most of the space behind the seat in a standard river runner or creek boat.
There will be room for a small dry bag or other gear on each side behind the seat when the float is fully inflated.
My problem with these is the inflation tube which on my four year old floats has dry rotted and broken. Hopefully the new ones are sturdier.
