I bought this so I could paddle at our local whitewater park, which requires you to have float bags. I did a lot of research and I settled on the NRS Rodeo. It has been great so far. I keep it in my boat and it has never lost any air. I know a lot of paddling buddies that have have to buy new float bags every season because they never seem to hold air so I was ready for that too, but it hasn't happened yet. NRS has a picture of the bag being run over by a truck which is pretty impressive. If you just want a float bag that does what it's supposed to this is it.

Not much to say about these float bags. They fit in my playboat fine and seem to work well. i'd buy 'em again.

The NRS Rodeo split stern flotation bags are good value for money.
Float bags are an important piece of gear. Definitely a must have for beginners.
Like all paddling gear they do need looking after, take them out of the kayak every now and then for cleaning and dry in the shade.

                    Q:

Which model flotation product will work best in the BOW of my 2015 Wilderness Systems Pungo 120?

There is no front flotation compartment in the boat, so when I capsize, the boat fills completely, rides very low in the water, and is quite a handful to wrestle over to shore and empty.

Yes, a flooded boat is a handful and it can be dangerous. It's easy for you to determine the best fit. We give the fully inflated dimensions of each of the float bags. Measure the space you need to fill. Do it from the outside, making allowance for the hull thickness. Then choose bag(s) that large, or larger. A larger bag will partially inflate to completely fill the space.

Jeff, the best way to find out is get some rough measurements of the space and compare against the size of the float bags. Rodeo split stern will generally fit a smaller space.

Patty, we list the fully inflated dimensions of each of the float bags. If we don't have the exact size you're looking for, go with one bigger; it'll just inflate enough to fill the space.

To fully fill that space the Large Standard Float Bag, Item # 50081.01, will work. I'm a little concerned that at 47" long it might rub on the foot pegs. The Medium will also fill the area, just not as long. Having a bag larger than some of the dimensions is fine; it will not fully inflate but will fully fill the space.

Ed, the materials and adhesives in bike tire patch kits are rubber based. The material in the Rodeo Float is urethane. If you just have a small pinhole you could use Aquaseal, Item # 35001.01. For a larger tear you'll need a piece of urethane or PVC material and either Clifton Urethane Adhesive, Item # 38700.01, or Aquaseal.

Darren, online each of our float bags lists the maximum inflated dimensions. Measure the space you have to fill, then select the closest fit that is that size or larger. The goal is to fill the space with the maximum amount of bag, to minimize water collection.

Dave, all the float bag product pages give the inflated dimensions of the bags. Pick a size slightly larger than your space. Then, when inflated in the boat they will displace the maximum amount of water.

These will fill up most of the space behind the seat in a standard river runner or creek boat.
There will be room for a small dry bag or other gear on each side behind the seat when the float is fully inflated.
My problem with these is the inflation tube which on my four year old floats has dry rotted and broken. Hopefully the new ones are sturdier.
