One of our most popular raft frames, the NRS Bighorn I gives you room to mount a cooler or drybox either in front of or behind the rower.
  • 65" and 68" frame lengths make the Bighorn I an excellent fit on many 12' and 13' rafts.
  • The adjustable and adaptable NRS raft frame system lets you decide where you want to mount your cooler or dry box.
  • The Bighorn I Raft Frame Includes two 9' NRS straps and four strap slides for securing your cooler or dry box to the frame.
  • The heart of the NRS frame system, the LoPro™ Fitting allows complete adjustability for all frame parts. Now made in stronger, lighter hot-forged aluminum alloy.
  • NRS Oar Mounts are lighter, sleeker and stronger than ever with hot-forged aluminum alloy construction and a nylon insert to reduce rowing friction.
  • The NRS frame system makes it easy to add accessories like Side Rail Racks, Casting Platforms, Thigh Bars and Anchor Systems for even more convenience, performance and fun.
  • Use at least four NRS Tie-Down Straps to secure the frame to your boat.
  • Components: Side Rails, Seat Bar, two Cross Bars, Foot Bar, Low-Back Drain-Hole Seat, 6" Oar Mounts, two 9' NRS Tie-Down Straps, and four Strap Slides.

  • NRS Bighorn I Raft Frame

    Q:

Is it possible to get the NRS Bighorn I raft frame in a shorter length? I have an AIRE Tributary 14.0 SB. I basically want a cockpit and a cooler bay in front of me. Mainly I want to get the heavy cooler off the floor of the raft. I am short 5' 5", so the cockpit could be pretty small. I plan on having my wife and 2 small kids sit on the front thwart, so I don't want the frame to be up there. We want to do overnight trips, but lean more on the backpacker style of packing than the bring the kitchen sink type.

      A:

Eric, we can make the side rails any length you want. It's best to make a custom order over the phone, 800.635.5202. However, if it were me, I'd go with the stock 68" length (Trib 14.0 has a 70" flat area). Since your family is sitting on the thwart, those rails won't be in their way and you've given yourself the most flexibility with the frame and increased its resale value. Give us a call if you have questions.

    Q:

I have a raft with the following dimensions: -Length: 130 inches -Width: 66.5 inches -Chamber: 4+2 -Tube: 15.7 inches -Capacity: 5+1 person.

What size frame would I buy for it?

      A:

A 48" wide frame should fit your raft. Measure the flat portion of the tubes (after bow kick before stern kick) to obtain a length for the frame.

    Q:

I have a new Saturn 14 self Bailer. With this frame and I was wondering what size cooler will fit with my raft in the front?

      A:

According to Saturn's site your boat is 6' 8" wide, with 19.6" tubes. This would make the distance between the tubes 40.8". The Igloo Marine Ultra 94 Qt Cooler, Item # 70884.02, is the largest cooler that will fit.
