10% Off All Accesrrories! The NRS Otter 140 is the "little big man" of rafts. At 14' long and 7' wide, it's small enough to navigate tight rivers and large enough to carry heavy loads on multi-day trips. A great fishing boat too!
  • NRS Otter Series Rafts provide outfitter-grade performance that the private boater can afford.
  • 20" tubes and 7' width provide the stability, control and maneuverability difficult rivers demand.
  • 82" maximum frame length will accommodate an NRS Bigorn II Raft Frame with room for a drybox, cooler and rowing seat.
  • Will seat 8-9 paddlers with optional third thwart.
  • Heavy-duty Pennel Orca® material is super abrasion, chemical and UV-resistant for unmatched durability.
  • HD40 floor armor on the bottoms of the tubes guards your boat from the wear and tear of boulders and beaches.
  • 12 stainless steel 2" D-rings give plenty of tiedown points for frame and gear.
  • Four comfortable EasyCarry™ handles make carrying it to the water a breeze.
  • Three main tube air chambers to keep you afloat in the event of an accident.
  • Self-bailing floor with quick-draining holes allows you to leave the bucket at home.
  • Trouble-free Leafield™ C7 Valves ensure easy inflation/deflation of the tubes, thwarts and floor, and the Leafield A6 Pressure Relief Valve protects the floor.
  • The NRS BAT™ (Batten Attachment Thwart system) lets you easily add or remove thwarts to accommodate paddlers or a rowing frame.
  • 5-year retail warranty, 3-year commercial.

How To: Inflate a Raft (2:00)

You've invested in a good boat; you want to make sure it lasts a long time. Proper inflation techniques go a long way toward protecting the raft's seams and the baffles between chambers from strain and damage. In this video, Josh Gile, NRS Repairs, goes over steps for pumping up to recommended levels while keeping equal air pressure on both sides of each internal baffle. It's simple stuff, but doing it right is important boat longevity insurance.

How To: Fold an Inflatable Boat or SUP for Storage (2:33)

One of the great things about inflatable rafts, catarafts, kayaks and SUP boards is that when not in use they can be deflated, taking up very little storage space. In this video the NRS Repairs crew gives you the tips and techniques to minimize stress on seams and material while they're being folded and tucked away.

    Q:

I'm about to buy an Otter 140 from you but I'd like it to be in gray, like many of your other models. Is this possible? It's odd that one of your most popular rafts does not have many color options. Please help!

What width frame do you recommend for this raft?

      A:

Chris, the boat has a 64" center-to-center measurement, so the 66"W frame is the perfect choice. The flat area is 82" and the Bighorn II and Compact Outfitter frames come in that length.

Comments about NRS Otter 140 Self-Bailing Rafts:

We've had our Otter since 2000, it was a used boat sold to us by NRS. It had been used by an outfitter in South America for a few years before we got it. We've used it every year since on smaller rivers with paddlers for day trips and with an oar frame for multidays on the Green, Salmon and Snake.

It's proven to be extremely durable and versatile. It's small enough and maneuverable enough to paddle small rivers like the American and Carson and large enough to easily carry gear for a week or more. If it is maintained and stored well it will last decades.

Bottom line-it was one of the best gear investments we've ever made.
