Bought these for paddleboarding in the summertime. I like to wear NRS hydroskin .5 in the summer for protection from the cold ocean water. Love the quality of these pants. FYI - I usually take a size 8 pants and the size large works for me. I'm 5'5, 125 lbs and athletic build.

IS THERE A TECHNIQUE TO USE TO PUT THIS PANTS ON

                    A:

Donna, HydroSkin pieces are lightweight wetsuit garments; to be efficient at giving you thermal protection they need to fit snug, skin tight even, to minimize water flushing which draws heat away from your body. Fortunately they are very stretchy so you can use the same techniques you'd use to don leggings or hose; scrunch up the legs, slip your foot through the ankle opening and ease the material up over the legs. If you still have questions, call us at 800.635.5202 and talk with one of our women sales associates.

                  Q:

Would these be appropriate and comfortable for lap swimming in an unheated pool (guessing water temp in low 70's)? I don't want a full wetsuit as I find it too confining and it's really only my legs that get cold. Or would I need something different? Thanks.

I imagine if the temperature is cool enough all around, you would be all right wearing them, but as an ex swim racer, I can't imagine you would not get very hot very quickly if you are working hard. They would be nice for a more languid swim, I imagine.

The .5 hydo skin pants should be perfect for swimmers and more flexible than the heavier wetsuit. Make sure you get the right size so there's no bunching up on the legs. These are the best for all water sports!

I've never had to swim with my hydroskin pants. I use mine for kayaking when Lake Michigan water temps fall. I think the .5 pants would be doable and comfortable because they are lightweight. However, I'm wondering if the hydroskin capris or shorts would give you enough coverage to stay warm? I noticed that the capris are on closeout sale right now at about $30 off. Whatever you decide, good luck with your purchase.

Adele, many folks swim in pools in HydroSkin. It's stretchy material, especially when wet, so choose sizing for a snug fit. Also, pool chlorine levels are hard on neoprene so rinse thoroughly in fresh water after each pool session, and air dry.

                    Hello, Shopper….
I bought these for kayaking in cooler spring and fall weather.
For me, they do not come up to my waist, they are close to what would be called “hip huggers”
I found that uncomfortable for sitting for hours…they sort of cut off the circulation and so forth.
Yet, if they were primarily to warm your legs as you swim, I think they might be very good.
For sure you would be warm. They are nice for that…if there were a lighter weight you might be better served.
You could order several sizes and weights and see what might work for you.
                    Good luck.

0.5 mm HydroSkin is best protective in cool, not cold, water. The high chlorine content in most pool water is damaging to neoprene. Be sure to rinse thoroughly in fresh water, and air dry, after each session. Many folks wear HydroSkin in pools for exercise and kayak practice.

                  Hi I am 5' 1/2', 120 lbs.
But my bust size is 36" and tummy med. size.
I also have shorter upper body and short rise.
At this point I would go W. Med but it may be too long.
I would want the mid level tightness.
I dont need a really thick one but will use it in the spring in Mt. at a lake or in winter in Galapagos for example.
Any suggestions for fit? Do you carry petite sizes? Thank you, Linda Eichwald

Linda, if by 5' 1/2' you mean 5' 6" the Medium should work well for you. If you mean 5' 1/2" go for the Small. If you're concerned about length, take a look at the Capris, Item # 15017.02. Remember, like any wetsuit garment, for best thermal efficiency you want them to fit skin snug.
