    Q:

Are the paddle blades able to be removed from the shaft for storage (i.e. to make a compact 4 piece paddle for a spare paddle to store in the boat) ?

No. The paddle just comes apart in the middle.

      A:

No, they’re not. If it’s an inflatable, there’s plenty of room to rig the two pieces in the boat. If it’s a hard shell, it’ll depend on the interior volume.

      A:

Hi, the blades are glued to the shaft, so it only breaks down into 2
pieces. I always try to borrow another paddle instead of using this one!
Kind of heavy and clunky feeling.

Comments about Carlisle Take-Apart Standard Kayak Paddle:

When I received this paddle it was impossible to put the two halves together because the sleeve socket would not permit it to go in far enough for the lock button to pop up and lock it. Also, the hole in outside plastic sleeve at the joint was not aligned with the hole in the aluminum shaft. I had to first cut off part of the outside sleeve so that the two halves could go together so that the button would pop up and lock them, then I had to enlarge the hole in the outside plastic sleeve so that the button could pop up. Then, in order to be able to easily unlock the two halves I had to bevel the edge of the hole in the plastic sleeve so that my thumb could enter the hole enough to depress the lock button enough for it to release. A fine paddle otherwise, as I have found when I have used them before. It would have been easy enough to have caught this at the factory - all anyone had to do was check.

Comments about Carlisle Take-Apart Standard Kayak Paddle:

Great price for recreational paddle. Awsome price for a paddle that can handle light whitewater. Paddled through Class III and IV and so far it holds up well. Excellent match for a IK as it stores and transports well. Also, found that I could re-set a blade and get a custom off-set ~20 degrees or wherever I want it.

                Service and delivery comments:

Shipped promptly. Received on estimated date of arrival. Continue to be impressed with NRS service.
