  • Unique design stays on your oar to keep hands warm and dry while rowing, leaving your fingers warm and glove-free for any task requiring dexterity.
  • 5-mm Terraprene™ neoprene provides outstanding protection from cold, water and wind.

  • Glued and blind-stitched seams prevent water entry except when submerged.
  • Generous wrist cuffs make it easy to slip hands in and out.

    Q:

will this seal properly on the smaller "economy" oars that are 1 3/8 to 1 5/8 inches in diameter?
Asked on 3/15/2013 by crabtruck from Hillsboro, OR

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

The opening in the Oar Mitt is ~ 3/4" in diameter. It will still fit on the smaller oar shafts, just not as tight.

    Comments about NRS Oar Mitts:

Oar Mitts are not long enough to securely fit snug on the shaft of the oar. The open end needs to be at least another 6-8 inches to purchase grip on the shaft of the oar.
The mitts kept slipping off, making them very cumbersome.
At current design these things are junk.

    Comments about NRS Oar Mitts:

I was so excited about this new product. I have been jealous of my kayak friends who have been using poggies for years. Unfortunately the oar mitts wouldn't stay on my oar. When I took my hands out the mitt would slide up and start coming off the oar. I felt like I could easily loose one to the river if I didn't pay close attention. I think the material that grips the oar needs to be tighter or maybe a sinch tie, or Velcro.
