    Q:

How stretchable is the material? My chest is a 45 but my gut is a 48 I wear a 36 yammer swimsuit. I want to wear it in a swimming pool that is just a bit to cool for a 77 year old.

      A:

It's quite stretchy and will loosen some in the water. One thing to remember, the high chlorine in pools is hard on neoprene. Rinse the top thoroughly in fresh water after every swim.

    Q:

Can this shirt be worn in a chlorine swimming pool?? I have wetsuit shorts that are only applicable in non-chlorine waters, so I wonder if the same situation applies the this product also.

      A:

Travis, high chlorine levels like those found in swimming pools is hard on any neoprene garment. However, if you're consistent with rinsing thoroughly with fresh water after each pool session you'll get much longer life out of your neoprene. FYI, Wetsuit & Drysuit Shampoo, Item # 33513.01, has ingredients in it that neutralize chlorine.

      A:

I use it in a pool all the time and rinse in the shower when I'm done. I'm sure the chlorine isn't the greatest for it, but it holds up OK.

Used the HydroSkin for snorkeling and kayaking in cool water and air temps. Really made a difference and allowed me to be in the water longer. Fits tight .. i.e. had to order a couple sizes larger than I would have expected, however, once I got the correct size, all was good. I used the HydroSkin as an extra layer (rash guard) on one dive and it worked well.

I wanted this Hydroskin shirt to add a little immersion protection, to cover the collar and shoulders, wearing it under the NRS Little John Wetsuit. It works for that and footnote, is a really good looking shirt. However, I found the under-arm seams to be in instant annoyance (without even paddling the boat). The under-arm panels stretch nicely but the seams, of rather rough material, gathered and irritated. This might not happen to everyone. I have small arms & shoulders so was possibly not stretching out the material as it was designed for. Yet I had to order a larger size because the body/chest was way too tight. Notice how the seams under the arms join in a point, the underarm panel is a diamond shape. Other brands keep the under-arm panel seams parallel, so the under-arm panel is rectangular. That parallel panel design worked better for my body shape. If you are adequately large in shoulders, perhaps this NRS design will be OK for you. Aside from this caution in the fit/size, it is a very smart looking and protective shirt for action sports.

Comments about NRS Men's HydroSkin Shirt - S/S - Closeout:

I've been wearing hydroSkin shirts when whitewater kayaking for several years now. They are warm, comfortable, and keep the chill off when you're wet. I wear it as base layer when it's cold out and I'll wear it as only layer when it's warm out. They do seem to fit a bit too snug for my likes, so I'd recommend ordering up one size.

I did a 1.4 mile open water swim in 66degree water. The shirt did the job in keeping me comfortable in the water. After about one mile, I started to chaffe around the armpit.

Comments about NRS Men's HydroSkin Shirt - S/S:

I bought this shirt for those days on Lake Superior when it's too warm to wear the full drysuit or paddle jacket and the lake is behaving itself.

Works great, comfortable, breathes well and wore it all day with no issues. This shirt would be a great under layer for late fall, early winter paddles as well.

My only complaint is that it's sized pretty small and I'd buy a bigger one than normal. The small sizing resulted in a bit of an issue getting it off at the end of the day.
