First pair top snap broke immediately , first time I tried them on, quickly replaced. More pockets then a safari jacket and it hard to lose keys out of a zippered pocket.

No, they do not have a interior mesh lining.
However,  they are great and very durable shorts.

No lining. They are quick drying, but you need some underwear for support.

Would these be good under a wet suit while river rafting?

I would think not. Hang loose on your body (good thing, tho), but not flopping around as you try to get on a wetsuit. Buckle would probably be uncomfortable too. I really like the shorts for wearability--good for rafting too. They show dirt pretty easily tho.

They're great river shorts, and sturdy but somewhat stiff, so you'd probably want a layer underneath, if you wore these under a wetsuit. Like a speedo or other thin synthetic.

I probably wouldn't double up a wet suit with trunks underneath it of any
kind (the exception being compression shorts like Under Armor for
                sanitary/chaffing reasons) -
These were great trunks, however, for the long days and dry wet dry wet
cycle. I got the black and they didn't show dirt and warmed quickly in the
sun. Not terribly flexible so get the right size - but great overall.

These shorts are not lined with an inner brief. The pockets do have mesh at
their bottoms/corners to let water and sand drain out.
I do add, the fabric is dense and smooth making these shorts durable. I enjoy
these shorts very much; probably my favorite river shorts.
                Cheers

No mesh liner. They're constructed like a typical "board short", but with snap closer, zip fly, and multiple pockets like a tradition pair of shorts. They are very comfortable, functional and durable. I wore them everyday on a 16-day whitewater trip in Mexico this past December. They are my go-to paddling short here in Puerto Rico.
