  • Tough PVC-coated nylon outer skin, welded seams and urethane AIREcell bladders add to its durable design.
  • The bow and stern are upturned enough to deflect waves in whitewater but not enough to be troublesome in the wind.

Comments about Tributary Strike Inflatable Kayak:

I have had this boat for over 8 years now. Compared to my Aire Lynx it is more stable due to a lower center of gravity. Lighter than the Tomcats it is not bad getting to and from the water. This boat has been on many class 3 day trips and a few raft-supported multi-day trips on the Rogue River. While not as stable as a Hyside inflatable, it is definitely more comfortable in my mind. I added thigh straps which would be my recommendation to anyone getting one of these. The wrap around tube design seems to provide extra stability and stiffness when going through waves in a rapid. A great value and my go to IK in the boat quiver.

The only negative some might find with this boat are the somewhat non-standard valves which require the use of an adapter for most pumps. They supply the adapter and I keep it in the seat bag so no big deal for me.

How do you think this boat would do as a flat water or ocean kayak?

Sherry, the Strike is a "crossover" design. It's maneuverable in whitewater but the vee-shape of the floor bottom helps it track well in flat water. The Sawtooth - http://www.nrs.com/product/87126.02/tributary-sawtooth-inflatable-kayak - with it's removable skeg, is an even better choice for flatwater. paddling.
